Day 1: Plenary Speaker Sessions
July 15, 2025 | Hunt Library, NC State University
Day one will consist of plenary speaker sessions where we will hear from a variety of leaders in industrial hemp fiber. Topics will encompass all aspects of the hemp fiber industry, from seed to end-product and standardization. Our keynote speaker for the event will be Stephen Satterfield who you may know from his Netflix documentary, High on the Hog.
Day 1 will include:

Day 2: Field Trips
July 16, 2025 | NC State’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Horticultural Research Stations & Biophil
On day two, we will take two field trips to see hemp innovation firsthand. First, we will travel to NC State’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Horticultural Research Stations, led by Dr. David Suchoff. Next, we will visit Biophil Natural Fibers in Lumberton, NC to see their decortication and spinning process led by David Camby.
Day 2 will include:

- Light Breakfast
- Lunch
- Snacks Throughout
- Transportation to and from the facilities
- Field and Facility tours
Day 3: Round Table and Tours
July 17, 2025 | Wilson College of Textiles, NC State University
On day three, we will hold round table discussions and breakout groups encompassing all aspects of the hemp fiber industry, from seed to end-product and standardization. Additionally, we will be taking tours of the Wilson College of Textiles complex with Andre West and the Nonwovens Institute with Raoul Ferar.
Day 3 will include:
